Undergraduate Bachelor's degree programmes

Postgraduate Master's degree programmes

MBA programmes

Undergraduate Bachelors degree programmes

Undergraduate programmes in the UK are usually studied over three years and lead to a "Bachelors degree with Honours" qualification e.g. BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons).

Students must have completed their high school education to A Level standard or equivalent and be at least 18 years old to enter a Bachelors degree programme. In many cases, however, students who have completed high school in their own country may be required to complete a one-year Foundation course prior to entry. For further details about these courses, please refer to the brochure of our sister organization, Bellerbys College.

Entrance criteria for the Universities in the UK placement service for Bachelors

Aged 18 or over

International (non-EU) students

Proof of successful completion of A Levels or high school education plus a further year of academic study

English language level of IELTS 5.5/6.0 or equivalent

In Scotland, Bachelors programmes are usually studied over four years and, because of this, entry criteria vary and students can normally enter the institution at an earlier stage than elsewhere in the UK

Postgraduate Masters degree programmes

On the Universities in the UK programme, the Postgraduate programmes offered are Masters degrees (e.g.MA or MSc) and in the UK these are normally studied over a period of just one year.

To enter a Masters programme students must have a good first (e.g. Bachelors or similar) degree and be aged at least 21 years old. Masters programmes fall into two categories: Research or Taught. Research programmes allow students to pursue their own particular areas of interest under the guidance and supervision of a tutor whereas Taught programmes consist of seminars and lectures together with a dissertation. As with Bachelors programmes there is a huge range of programme and subject options.

MBA programmes

MBA (Master of Business Administration) programmes are designed to provide a broad understanding of several business subjects at Masters level and are normally studied over a period of one year.

Students do not need to have studied business previously though they do need to have a good first degree (e.g. Bachelors or similar). MBA students will also need to have a substantial amount of work experience (normally two to three years in a management position) and because of this, the average age of students on MBA programmes is considerably higher than for those on other Masters programmes.

Pre-Masters Programme

for students with a full Bachelors degree

Rigorous language preparation

This is a six-month course offering intensive, rigorous preparation for graduates hoping to progress to a Masters degree course at a university in an English-speaking country. There are two 11-week terms with a two-week vacation between them.

Full guidance and support

During your course, a University Placement Counsellor will ensure you choose the right institution for your needs and interests, offering full support and advice along the way.

Flexibility to develop the right skills

The course consists of a series of core content modules which focus on the specific English language skills needed at Masters level. You will develop your communication and writing skills, and learn how to comprehend and discuss complex English texts.

Additional elective classes allow you to focus on those areas most useful or important to your future studies. For example, depending on your chosen Masters course, you might take an English for Scientific Study elective or a specialist workshop focusing on Advanced Writing.

Masters Qualifying Programme

for students without a full Bachelors degree

For students who are not yet academically qualified

The Masters Qualifying Programme (MQP) is a unique course run by Bellerbys College, the Academic Preparation Division of Study Group. It is designed specifically for students with an Associate Degree/Junior College Diploma or Higher National Diploma who do not have a first degree. After six or nine months, successful students are qualified for entry into Masters degrees at universities which recognize the programme. This course is also taken by many students who have a degree in a non business subject.

Intensive preparation for a Masters degree

The programme consists of two terms of English preparation and one term of academic studies. The first two terms cover English language training in preparation for the IELTS exam together with Business skills. The third term focuses on academic business studies including accounting, information technology and marketing.

The course is particularly useful if you have not studied business before and want to go on to an MBA. It will give you the opportunity to receive a grounding in the basic business subjects. You will therefore feel more confident about 0starting a Business Masters degree which will be highly intensive.

The UK has long enjoyed an excellent reputation as a study destination for international students. The outstanding quality and academic rigour of UK Higher Education is recognized worldwide. A country with a rich history and exciting cultural environment, the UK has produced some of the leading business people, scientists, artists and writers of our time. Academic institutions offer an exceptionally wide range of programmes and specialist subject choices in the key areas of Business; Science, Engineering and Technology; and the Arts.

Business

The UK is one of the world's leading economies. London is a major financial centre for global trade and the location for the head offices of many multi-national corporations. Benefiting from this business environment, UK business schools are among the best in the world, with programmes to ensure graduates are at the cutting-edge of business strategy.

From general programmes at Bachelors level to specialized Masters, MBAs and beyond, international students graduating with a UK business qualification have a lasting advantage in their career prospects.

Science, Engineering and Technology

From Newton's pioneering exploration of the nature of gravity and Darwin's work on evolution through to Professor Francis Crick, the scientist who helped unravel the mysteries of DNA, the UK has long been at the forefront of scientific achievement. With just 1% of the world's population, the UK produces 8% of the world's scientific papers and has won 90 Nobel Prizes for science.

In engineering and technology too, the UK has excelled in the practical application of science. The country is renowned for great engineering and technological achievements of the past, such as Robert Stephenson's railways and Sir Frank Whittle's jet engines. Today, scientists and engineers in the UK such as Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web, are still at the forefront of invention and innovation.

British universities are an integral part of the UK's success in this area, and the institutions we work with offer a wide range of highly regarded science and engineering disciplines.

Arts and Social Sciences

Many pre-eminent figures in the world of arts and social sciences hail from the UK.With a cultural heritage that includes Shakespeare, Turner and Bacon, modern writers, artists and thinkers have a rich tradition on which to build. The UK continues to contribute a great deal in this field – not just in the more literary and academic areas but also in modern popular culture through music, television and film. From history and philosophy to modern art, media studies and languages, UK universities provide the kind of learning environment in which students can really excel in their chosen field.

Quality education

The majority of undergraduate (Bachelor) degrees take three years to complete and postgraduate (Masters) degrees, one year. Most UK institutions are State-funded and regularly undergo government assessment to monitor the quality of teaching and the standard of the curriculum. This ensures students receive the best possible quality education throughout their studies in the UK.

Student life

Students enrolling at university in the UK will find themselves in the midst of a diverse, cosmopolitan society as well as many of the world's most famous art galleries, museums and places of historical interest. A warm welcome is extended to international students who will join the ranks of many famous international alumni including Bill Clinton, Thabo Mbeki, Desmond Tutu, Mahatma Gandhi, King Abdullah of Jordan and Imran Khan.
